Independent living should make everyday life easier. At every Scenic City community, one monthly rent covers many of the expenses and responsibilities that normally come with maintaining a home.

That means fewer separate bills to manage and more time to enjoy your own routine.

All Utilities Included

Electric, water, gas and trash are included in the rent at every community we manage. There are no separate utility accounts to open and no monthly bills to track.

Free Laundry

Marlboro apartments have a washer and dryer inside the unit. Silverdale has a free shared laundry room. No coins, and no laundry fee anywhere we manage.

Cable TV Package

A full cable television package is included with every apartment and is connected before you move in.

Weekly Housekeeping

Light housekeeping is done for you once a week in every apartment, at no extra charge.

Optional Meal Plan

Every apartment has a full kitchen. A prepared meal plan can be added on request for residents who would rather not cook every night.

Maintenance-Free Living

One of the biggest advantages of independent living is having less home to maintain. Repairs, lawn care, grounds, and building upkeep are handled by staff, so residents do not have to arrange or pay separately for routine property maintenance.

You rent your own private apartment, keep your own key, prepare meals in your own kitchen, welcome visitors, come and go as you please, and decide how you spend your day.

What changes is the amount of home maintenance you have to manage. At every Scenic City community, utilities, housekeeping, laundry options, maintenance, and other everyday property responsibilities are handled for you. Independent living is not assisted living. These communities do not provide medical care or daily personal-care assistance. They are residential apartment communities for people who want to continue living independently.

Is independent living the same as a nursing home or skilled nursing facility?

No. Independent living is different from a nursing home or skilled nursing facility. Silverdale and Marlboro are residential independent living communities, not medical or skilled nursing facilities. Residents lease their own private apartment and live independently. There is no nursing staff or medical care provided on site.

Can residents come and go as they please?

Yes. Independent living means maintaining your own schedule and routine. Residents keep their own apartment key, leave and return when they choose, welcome visitors, and decide how they spend their day.

Do I have to cook for myself?

Yes, if you want to. Every apartment includes its own kitchen, so residents can prepare meals on their own schedule just as they would in any other home. An optional prepared meal plan is also available for residents who would rather not cook every day.

How old do I have to be?

Most of our residents are 55 and older, though there is no strict age requirement. Give us a call and we will talk through whether it is a good fit for you.

What happens if I need more help later on?

Independent living does not include personal or medical care, so if your needs change you would look at a different level of living.
